Dear
Prayer-Partners, ANNIVERSARY!!! On April 2nd we enjoyed a wonderful day in celebrating our anniversary together. We started by a drive out in the country and surprised a pastor friend by showing up at his church...we arrived right as the service started and he called me to sit up front...then, in the middle of the service he led me outside and said...Pastor Dave, a preacher is always supposed to be ready to preach...could you preach for me today? What a joy it was to preach the Word for his church and the Lord blessed us so much. We then went for a "Sunday Drive" over the mountains and down by the ocean...then back up and ate out barbequed chicken dinner on top of a mountain overlooking the ocean...thank you, Lord! Thanks to all who sent greetings for our special day. MISSION TEAMS We hosted a group from San Jose, California in February. They worked hard building church benches and painting a parsonage. These folks are always such a blessing to us and they certainly blessed our Haitian folks here. Thanks, guys, for all you did! Wish you could have been here when we presented the church with their new benches...they were so thrilled! During this mission trip we also saw an unprecedented number of people get saved...including one of the mission team members! We are now watching those new Christians grow and are being blessed by their enthusiasm for the Lord. In recent weeks we have also seen several decisions from personal evangelism taking place on the road and on the gallery of our house. We wish we had the space to share all the joy but please just remember to pray for these new Christians. We have another mission team coming April 15 and we are working hard in preparation for them. We are praying for much work to be accomplished as well and great blessings from the Lord. This is a very special mission team as three of our boys...Mark, Luke & John will be leading this group. CHURCH DEDICATION The above mentioned church with the new benches was just dedicated April 9th. What a day of rejoicing as over 200 people showed up in that little church with ten new benches...they were sitting in the windows and standing outside. After the service we all walked across the river and dedicated the preacher's new house that was finished just before the church. I told Ruby it was the best day in Haiti I can ever remember! BUILDING FUND We reached the end of the building fund money and general fund money before this last church was done...we were glad to be able to fund it ourselves as you folks have been so gracious in supporting us. We do have three churches waiting to be built and more houses as well so the building fund really needs a boost. You pray with us and we will all watch the Lord work! MISSION COMPLEX We have been praying for some time that the Lord would provide us with land and the means to build a mission complex, which would include a small house for us as well as guest facilities for mission teams and a storage depot for building supplies. Many of you remember we borrowed $5000 to finish paying for the land we believed we should buy...we have not been able to pay back that loan as of yet so we are praying diligently for the Lord's direction in the matter. Is He having us wait because He has better land for us??? Does the Lord want us to keep renting? If that is the case we need to rent a larger facility as the mission work is expanding. Just pray with us for wisdom in discerning the Lord's direction in this matter. TEEN CAMP We are having our first teen camp in Haiti August 7-10. We are certainly looking forward to that as we plan on bringing a group with us from the states for that trip. If you are interested in attending the camp or helping with the camp...please contact us as soon as possible. We also need scholarships for the camp. We are asking $20 Haitian for each camper (that is $2.50 U.S.) and most will not be able to pay. We are expecting about 75 campers. If you, your church or Sunday School class would like to sponsor come campers please let us know. BIBLE SEMINARS I have given more seminars this year than ever. We have seen so much interest in the seminars and best of all, lives and churches changed as a result of God's Word in their lives. MUSIC, MUSIC, MUSIC We donated a guitar last year to a country preacher (thanks, Lane) and when we visited his church this year it was such a blessing to watch him lead worship with his guitar. He learned so well...taught himself...and the church is the better for it. We just donated another keyboard this last Sunday and the church was thrilled. We could use several more guitars and keyboards...if you have any to donate...let us know. JUST A FUN STORY Ruby and I had a nice four-day trip across the island as I was invited to preach at a church and we took the opportunity to visit other friends and missionaries on the way. We stayed with one friend who lives right on the ocean...what a blessing that was! On the way home we had another picnic on up on a mountain...I wanted to check the echo from up their so I stood by a cliff and hollered out...Ruby, I love you. As I was waiting for the echo I heard a distinct Haitian voice say from up above me “Wooby, I wuv you!!!” A man working in his garden high above us heard me and repeated what I said as best he could. He was too far up to come join us for lunch but we really had a good laugh together!!! WEBSITE We have heard from some folks who were encouraged by friends to check out our website. Thanks for those who did that and we encourage others to tell your friends to check out HaitiBibleMission.org. Thanks for all your prayers and support. God bless you all. Lord willing we will be back in Arkansas May 1. In Christ our Savior, Pastor Dave & Ruby
