When I was 12 years old, we went into town and my dad wanted us to meet a new friend (a witch doctor) and see some of his animals. He had lots of rabbits, ducks, guinea fowl, and other animals that are pretty rare in Haiti. He told us he had some baby rabbits in the back, so we followed him through a dark hallway with tiny, dark and dingy rooms lining the hall. I didn’t know what the rooms were at the time, but got a weird feeling as we passed through. Later my mom explained that was a brothel and what took place there. I felt really heavy and burdened for the girls and all they go through. Along with some of HBM’s leaders I started building relationships with some of the girls when we would visit, and one of them named Stephania really wanted to leave that life. She felt trapped, feeling like it was the only way she could provide for her kids. She also was really interested in learning about Jesus, but didn't think she could be saved while living the life of a prostitute. HBM was able help her start a business and get out of the brothel. That same moment she gave her life to Jesus. I also became friends with the witch doctor’s niece, Sarafina, we would play basketball together. She watched Stephania's transformation and I prayed with her to accept Jesus, too. I’ll never forget the feeling of seeing their lives changed!
