It was during our first couple of years on the mission field and I was up early making breakfast for a visiting team from Ohio. I had poured a full boiling kettle of water into our large french press coffee maker and was trying to push down the mechanism to get the grounds sifted out. What I didn't know was the filter was clogged and every inch of my progress was compressing the steam until it built enough force to literally explode out. My face took the brunt of the boiling explosion along with some of my upper body. The pain was excruciating, as skin was literally peeling off of my face and my clothes were keeping the boiling water close to my skin, intensifying the burns. Two thirds of my face had 2nd and 3rd degree burns, with my chest and arms also covered in large, raw wounds.

Immediately, friends began praying and in less than an hour, my pain completely ceased! Pastors made long journeys from the countryside to pray for my healing. Two pastors in particular prayed that my face would be completely restored to it’s former self BEFORE our planned trip to the states in 7 days. They didn’t want me to have to face any staring or ridicule during our travels. At that point I was more concerned with infection than scarring, but they prayed for the latter! The day of our travels came around and MIRACULOUSLY, not one mark was left on my face! Just fresh, new, unmarked skin. My chest and arms still had oozing wounds, further proving the healing miracle of my face. God is SO GOOD!
